Wrocław: how to find an interpreter in a flash
In the beginning of November delegates from the European Commission arrived in Wrocław to meet representatives of Polish authorities and companies. Their discussions were devoted to investments and new technologies in the agricultural sector. A couple of days in advance we received a request for an English-Polish interpreter from an agency located in Brussels co-ordinating this event.
We were told that the interpreter was needed on Wednesday, for a meeting in Wrocław and later a field visit nearby. Everything was settled and on Tuesday we expected to receive materials for our interpreter. To our surprise, early in the morning we received several e-mails and a phone call instead. The co-ordinator from the Brussels agency was in panic: why hasn't the interpreter arrived yet? It turned out she confused the dates and they need someone available instantly.
In less than an hour we organised a new interpreter for the guests and cancelled the one booked for Wednesday. The new interpreter, although given no chance to prepare for the job, did very well and made a great impression. All in all, our client had to pay for both interpreters: the actual work done and the cancellation fee.
